- Designed an NDS structure to meet strict business requirements and successfully integrated it with the custom software.
- Redeveloped the Clinical Pharmacology Unit (CPU) specialist software application using Visual Basic, utilizing the Netware API for integrated NDS security and authentication services. Serial (RS-232) interfaces were also developed for management of heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and other medical instruments.
- Developed a radio clock synchronization NLM using C for Netware SFTIII. This formed a highly resilient clock synchronization service that was maintained even in the event of a single clock or server failure.
- Successfully managed the User Acceptance Testing of the overall system & handover to BAU.
- Overall this project required a highly resilient system of both hardware and software to ensure reliable 24 hour operation due to the commercial and financial importance of this department.
| British Energy, Heysham 1 Nuclear Power Station – IT Engineer / Manager (Permanent) 1989 – March 1998 This was a constantly developing role being part of a small team responsible for all the business IT requirements of a nuclear power station. I was heavily involved in the development of a Management Information system utilizing leading edge concepts in the display of information (traffic lights, ticker tape displays etc). The success of this system combined with the implementation of other key systems led to the eventual infrastructure incorporating most users (500+).
