This is event was a series of autotests on a gravel/loose surface organised by the Bedford Car Club. I'd originally gone as the navigator for Mike in his Triumph 2.5PI Mk2, but the opportunity presented itself to have a drive as well. The weather wasn't great but it still couldn't dampen anyone's spirits. Over the course of the day, eight coned circuits were arranged with each one becoming slightly more complicated. The car was a bit big for this type of event but the suspension improvements made since the Little Devils tests earlier this year reduced the understeer and resulted in some exciting sideways action! Apparently the straight six engine sounded pretty good too. At the end of the day I finished towards the bottom of the results table (fortunately not last though!) but I was happy for my first "competitive" driving event. Mike performed much better, but then perhaps he had a better navigator...
