The last week has been pretty successful on the Stag - Garage clearout, BW35 start inhibit switch, flasher relay and reversing lights. The front end is now about ready to prime, so I'll be moving onto the backend next week.

I've also managed to fix/adjust the start inhibit switch for the BW35 automatic gearbox. Fortunately there was a handy inspection cover in the transmission tunnel so I was able to work from inside the car. I don't know if it's just my car or the work I've had done on the gearbox, but the instructions to do this appear to be incorrect. As far as the instuctions go, when the plunger on the switch is all the way out the reversing lights should be on and when it is in that car should start. However the cam that operates it (inside the gearbox) operates it the other way around; i.e. the plunger is all the way out in Park and Neutral and gets pushed in when you select Reverse! Once I'd worked this out, it was fairly straightforward to adjust. So I've now got working reversing lights and, once I'd sorted out the bodged wiring, the car no longer starts when it's in gear.

The other problem I'd noticed when I was checking to see if it was worth trying for an MOT was that at idle the indicators stopped flashing. I decided to try fitting an electronic flasher unit. This turned out to be a simple job, the existing two wires are used with the addition of an earth connection. The indicators now flash consistently, no matter what the engine speed.

So, by the end of the week I'd completed a few outstanding jobs and I'd managed to drive the car out of the garage for the first time in about 5 years. This had the added benefit that I was able to clear the garage to make more room to work on the car. Next week it's onto the rear wings and all the filler.
