1968 Triumph 2.5PI Mk1 at Blyth ServicesCompleted the Round Britain Reliability Run last weekend in a 1968 Triumph 2.5 PI Mk1. We had a great time and only suffered a couple of breakdowns. The first at 3am outside Edinburgh when the fuel pump packed up. We eventually got it changed only to find the battery had also gone flat. Fornutately we were kindly assisted by the entrants in a TR7 who gave us a jump start. Only an hour lost and we were back on our way. On the second occasion the wheel nuts came loose on one wheel and snapped a wheel stud. This was quickly replaced at Conon Bridge. We also had a flat battery on a couple of occasions which was due to a 20amp alternator and too much technology. In addition to the SatNav, phones and blue wand attached to the boot, we were trying to run a laptop with a webcam to capture the entire 48 hour journey. Unfortnately we had to abort this during the night when the additional load of headlights and wipers started to discharge the battery. We did manage to get at least half the journey though. See the videos and pictures below. The event is organised by Club Triumph with over 100 Triumphs taking part, each one raising sponsorship for the RNLI.

Start from The Plough at Crews Hill North London to Blyth Services on the A1.
